The NFYC kicked off it’s 125th Year in it’s historical club house, on the scenic north bank of the River Crouch.
Starting the 2023 season of events, on the 25th February with a Refresher Day, where club members fine turned their Navigation, Ropework and Colreg skills. Thank you to Ian George (RYA Instructor) for being on hand to answer any questions on navigation & tidal calculations.
Tim was helping members with rope splicing, whippings & mooring techniques including dipping mooring lines & knot tying.
The interactive quizzes on navigation lights, sounds, buoyage & Colregs were very popular with members testing their knowledge.
This was followed on Friday 3rd March with a RYA (SRC) Marine Short Range VHF radio course & exam held in our club house with 2 club members attending, both Martin & Norman passing the exam, well done guys.
The RYA (SRC) Marine Short Range VHF radio course & exam is for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A marine radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures.
The Short Range Certificate is required by law to operate a VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) radio on any British flagged vessel either fixed or hand held.
If you missed this course but would like to attend the next one please let one of the flag officers know.
